Luke S. Kahng, CDT, is a master ceramist with nearly 30 years of experience as a dental technician, and is the Owner and Director of Operations at LSK121 Oral Prosthetics, an all-encompassing dental laboratory that handles all aspects of restoration cases. A widely respected author and lecturer, Luke is the creator of the Chairside Shade Selection Guide, the Chairside Shade Guide, and the Ceramic Shade Guide System.



LIVE CE LECTURE TOPIC: Achieving Superior Aesthetics & Durability by Utilizing the CAD/CAM System

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Luke S. Kahng will teach attendees how to best fabricate Full-Mouth, Screw-Retained Zirconia implants with a milling machine by sharing the technical knowledge, techniques and experiences that he has gained from handling Screw-Retained, Layered Zirconia implant cases. He will also cover the benefits of PMMA when compared to Wax Try-ins.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Perry Carroll will provide an overview of the laboratory market and cover various differences when looking at CAD/CAM. He will explain how to overcome CAD/CAM issues with various examples and live demonstrations of CAD designs.

Dr. Baumgarten is a graduate of the Periodontics and Periodontal Prosthesis programs at the University of Pennsylvania. He is the former Director of the Dental Implant Research Center at Penn and is currently a Clinical Professor in the Department of Periodontics at Penn Dental Medicine. He lectures and publishes articles about dental implants and restorative dentistry worldwide.

LECTURE TOPIC: The Team Approach for Implant Restorations in a Digital World

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Alexander Wuensche, CDT and Harold Baumgarten, DMD will discuss the importance of the successful collaboration between the clinician and laboratory technician in the fabrication of implant-supported restorations. They will outline the most important steps during this process and explain the importance of employing a digital workflow along the way.

  • Understand what clinicians demand from the dental laboratory technician.
  • Know what the dental laboratory technician must demand from the clinician.
  • Learn how digital workflows can enhance communication between technician and clinician.

LECTURE TOPIC: Intra-Oral Scanning, an Aesthetic Team Approach: Workflow, Materials, Results

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Alexander Wuensche will present the implementation of an Intra-Oral scanner in the daily laboratory workflow in order to produce highly aesthetic results. During the live demonstration, he will show how to receive Intra oral scan files and explain the next step in the CAD/CAM department to proceed with the design.

  • Attendees should be able to understand the steps to import IOS files from different IOS systems.
  • Learn the importance of choosing the right material for the best esthetic and economic result.
  • Understand the importance and convenience of utilizing modern technologies in our daily business.

Dietmar Schaan CDT/MDT is a qualified expert in all phases of the dental laboratory. He specializes in functional diagnostics, and completed his Craftsman Certificate in 2011. He began working for Amann Girrbach in 2002 and, since 2003, he has been conducting trainings, lectures and demonstrations around the world.


LECTURE TOPIC: The Full Denture Workflow

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Teamwork and communication between the dentist and the dental technician is the key to restoring functional occlusion and esthetics for the edentulous patient. Accurately recording the positon of the maxilla relative to the hinge axis of the condyles as well as measuring centric relation and transferring the patient's data to a functional articulator is critical to both the analogue and digital workflow for complete dentures. The Full Denture Solutions integrate these traditional processes to increase the accuracy and proficiency of model analysis, denture tooth placement and denture base design to ensure a successful clinical try-in and final result.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES:

  • Learn how to take functional impressions for the edentulous patient.
  • Understand the importance of the Facebow Registration and Gothic Arch Tracing.
  • Utilize registrations to program a fully-functional Articulator
  • Recognize the steps in the digital workflow for model analysis, setting denture teeth and designing the denture base.
  • Understand the processes involved in the clinical try-in.
  • Identify the steps involved in finalizing and processing the full denture.
